Founder, President, Chief Investment Officer

Dan founded Gimbal in 2000 after serving five years as CEO of Harding Energy and manufacturer of cylindrical nickel metal hydride batteries. Prior work experience includes five years as Manager of a west Michigan family office, four years as CFO of Top-Line Packing a beef processor, and nine years of corporate banking for Old Kent Bank & Trust Company.

Dan graduated with honors from Northern Michigan University in 1977 with a degree in Finance and earned the School of Business “Finance Scholar Award. Dan has served on the board of New Kent Homes and several west Michigan financial, manufacturing and agricultural businesses, in addition to early involvement in Jaycees, United Way and coaching YMCA basketball.

Dan and his wife Mary are lifelong residents of West Michigan and have twin sons that practice law in California.


Portfolio Manager

Charles joined Gimbal Capital Management in September 2014 after serving 5 years as an adjunct professor at ITT Technical Institute and Northwood University teaching introductory and intermediate economics, introductory and intermediate finance, and managerial accounting. Prior to his teaching career Charles spent 10 years in financial services as an investment advisor and on staff in a high net worth practice.

Charles earned a BBA in Finance from Grand Valley State University in 1997 and a MA in Applied Economics from Western Michigan University in 2008. In addition to being a member of the West Michigan CFA Society since 2005 Charles serves as a ruling elder in this church; as a coach, division director and on the Board of Directors of Alamo Little League; and as a youth basketball coach through the YMCA.

Charles is married to Kelly, who serves the Kalamazoo area as a neurologist, and has 3 children.


Customer Relations and Office Administration

Mary joined Gimbal Capital Management during 2007 after serving for three years as the Customer Service Manager for Falcon Waterfree Technologies and thirteen years as Credit Manager for the Bertsch Company. Mary received her B.A. degree in Business Administration and Economics from Aquinas College in 1985.
